ICC World Test Championship Final 2023: India will play against Australia in WTC final 2023 from June 7 at The Oval, London.
The World Test Championship Final 2023 is less than a month away, and Australia and India are getting ready for their showdown to see who will win the second WTC. Both India and Australia came in first and second in the WTC ranks for the 2021–23 cycle. They are also the top two teams in the ICC Test rankings, with India in first place and Australia in second. The WTC final will be held at the Oval in London on June 7. A backup day has been set aside in case it rains on any of the days of the Test.

Both teams have named their teams for the final, and some of their players are already in England to get used to the weather. But India’s plans for the big game have been hampered by the fact that some of the players have been hurt and will likely miss the final. So, let’s look at the players who are probably going to miss the WTC final because they are injured.
- Jaydev Unadkat
In the second Test against Bangladesh in December 2022, the left-handed seamer made his return to the Indian team after a long absence of 12 years. Unadkat was also on the team for the Test series between India and Australia in February and March 2023, and he is also on the team for the WTC final.
The seamer for the Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, hurt his shoulder while bowling in the nets on April 30. He fell funny and hurt his shoulder. After getting hurt, Unadkat went to Mumbai to get tests and talk to the BCCI’s medical staff. The 31-year-old can’t play in the IPL 2023 and probably won’t be ready for the WTC final. He will probably start his recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
- KL Rahul
During Match 43 of the IPL 2023, the star batter pulled his hamstring while playing for LSG against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rahul was taken off the pitch right away, but he had to come back out to bat because his team was having trouble in the middle. During his short innings, the LSG leader was seen to be having trouble because he couldn’t run and had to stop singles.
Reports say that Rahul went to Mumbai for scans after LSG’s last game against CSK and will not be able to play in the IPL in 2023. Once the scans are done and the full amount of the injury is known, the BCCI will decide what to do next. There are a few players who can replace KL Rahul in the ICC WTC Final 2023 against Australia.
- Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer didn’t play again until the fourth Test between India and Australia in Ahmedabad in March 2023. But the best batter didn’t come out to bat because he’s been having back problems since the start of 2023. Before, the 28-year-old chose not to have surgery and was getting better at the NCA.
But in April, the BCCI gave a report on his health and said that he would have back surgery in the last week of April and stay under the surgeon’s care for two weeks before going back to the NCA to get better.
The cricket player had a successful back surgery in London on April 18. It is expected to take him three months to fully heal, so he will miss the WTC final.
- Rishabh Pant
Since his heroics at the Gabba helped his team win a memorable game, Rishabh Pant has been the “X factor” of team India. But the southpaw won’t be able to play in the WTC final because on December 30, 2022, he was in a terrible accident on the way from Delhi to his home in Roorkee, Uttarakhand.
Pant’s car was going too fast and hit a divider. The car caught fire, but the cricketer luckily got out of the burning car and was taken to the hospital by some nearby people. After the accident, the cricket player was hurt very badly and will not be able to play again until 2024. Pant just started getting better at the NCA, and fans hope he can get back on the team as soon as possible.
- Jasprit Bumrah
Due to a stress fracture, the speedster hasn’t been able to move since September 2022. Bumrah just had surgery in New Zealand, and now he is starting his six-week recovery at the NCA in Bengaluru. The 29-year-old has missed big events like the Asia Cup 2022, T20 World Cup 2022, and IPL 2023. He is also not in the World Test Championship 2023 Final team.
India will miss the star seamer during the final match with Australia because he has led the Test team’s fast bowling attack for the past five years. The BCCI is doing everything it can to get Bumrah ready for the ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held in India from October to November.
