Aliens: Dark Descent – How To Stealth Kill Xenomorphs

In the Aliens franchise, sound plays a significant role in alerting Colonial Marines to the presence of Xenomorphs, and vice versa. However, in Aliens: Dark Descent, players have the option to use a Recon Marine and Silencer, along with the Precision Shot skill, to stealthily eliminate Xenomorphs without alerting the entire nest.

Timing is crucial in remaining undetected throughout a mission. If players can get the jump on a Xenomorph, line up their shots, and have a Recon Marine ready and waiting, they can remain stealthy for extended periods. While firepower and heavy artillery are often the go-to tools for Colonial Marines, the stealth approach can work wonders for those who wish to remain undetected for as long as possible.

To begin, players must first unlock the Recon Marine by leveling a Colonial Marine to Level 3 and selecting the appropriate class. However, the available classes at Level 3 are randomized, so players may need to level up their Marines until the Recon Marine option appears.

Once the Recon Marine is at their disposal, players can head to the Barracks to spend 30 materials to unlock the Silencer for their weapon. When used alongside Precision Shot, the Silencer reduces gunshot noise to zero. However, using Precision Shot requires a single Command Point, and it takes time for the shot to register. The Recon Marine will need a clear line of sight to the Xenomorph for the entire duration of the skill timer.

Aiming for the head is crucial for a one-hit kill without alerting nearby aliens. However, tougher enemies may require an additional shot or follow-up from fellow Colonial Marines.

With these tools at their disposal, players can feel more confident and prepared to stealthily eliminate Xenomorphs in Aliens: Dark Descent.

A significant portion of the Aliens franchise revolves around sound and how it’s used for various purposes, like alerting Colonial Marines to Xenomorph presence, or vice versa, to the detriment of all. But, in Aliens: Dark Descent, players can suppress their gunshots by utilizing a Recon Marine and Silencer, alongside the Precision Shot skill, to stealth kill Xenomorphs without alerting the entire nest.

It’s all in the timing. Suppose players can get the jump on a Xenomorph, line up their shots, and have a Recon Marine ready and waiting. In that case, it’s possible to remain stealthy throughout a mission for extended periods.

How To Stealth Kill Xenomorphs With Style

Aliens Dark Descent Xenomorph Warrior

With aliens stalking the missions on Lethe, the Colonial Marine squad and player commander require every tool at their disposal. More often than not, the definition for “every tool” is a metric ton of firepower alongside a flamethrower and mobile armored assault vehicles. But there’s another option altogether. For those players who wish to remain undetected for as long as imaginable on each mission, the stealth approach works wonders.

There is no way to melee stealth kill a Xenomorph in Aliens: Dark Descent.

Unlock The Recon Marine

First and foremost, players must unlock the Recon Marine. The only way to do so is by leveling a Colonial Marine to Level 3, then choosing the appropriate class. However, the classes available at Level 3 are randomized, so the player may need to level up their fresh Marines until the Recon Marine option pops up.

Unlock The Silencer

With the Recon Marine at the player’s disposal, it’s time for upgrades. By heading to the Barracksplayers can select the newly-promoted Recon Marine and spend 30 materials to unlock the Silencer for their respective weapon. This upgrade occupies one slot and — when used alongside Precision Shot — reduces gunshot noise to zero.

However, using Precision Shot will require a single Command Point, and it takes time for the shot to register. The Recon Marine will require a clear line of sight to the Xenomorph for the entire duration of the skill timer.

Aim for the head! If players shoot the Xenomorph in the head using a silencer and Precision Shot, it’s a one-hit kill without alerting any nearby aliens. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for tougher enemies, which may require an additional shot or follow-up from fellow Colonial Marines.

The Colonial Marines should now feel more confident and prepared to stealth kill Xenomorphs in Aliens: Dark Descent!
