Amanda Bynes shops after re-entering mental health facility
Amanda Bynes was seen leaving her mental health facility to go shopping in Orange County, California, last week. The former actress maintained a low profile, wearing a gray T-shirt and black leggings with a plaid shirt tied around her waist as she exited Capo Smoke & Cigar on Friday night. According to eyewitnesses, Bynes, who is 37 years old, was alone and appeared to be in good spirits. On Saturday afternoon, she was spotted leaving a Ralphs supermarket with a bag of groceries, dressed in a white tee, blue jeans, and a rain jacket. Sources have revealed that Bynes has progressed to the minimal supervision group at her treatment center, which allows her to leave the premises at certain hours to engage in activities like shopping or taking a stroll. Although she is permitted to leave, Bynes still plans to stay at the facility for the foreseeable future as she continues to focus on her mental health. She reportedly enjoys the presence of medical staff, therapists, and other patients, as it provides opportunities for socialization rather than being isolated in her apartment. Bynes, known for her role in the “Amanda Show,” has bipolar disorder and was placed on a psychiatric hold in March after being found naked on the streets of Los Angeles. After spending three weeks in the mental health facility, she was released but was later placed back on a psychiatric hold in June due to concerns for her safety and the safety of others. Bynes checked back into treatment last month. Two weeks later, she was able to leave the facility, having made progress in her mental health journey. However, in late July, she checked herself back into another center to seek a more therapeutic environment. This decision was made despite being part of a previous outpatient program that allowed her to receive treatment while living at home. Bynes’ ex-fiancé, Paul Michael, claimed in March that she had been off her medication during her nude psychiatric episode. The couple called off their engagement in July 2022, and Bynes accused Michael of watching inappropriate content and using drugs. Bynes clarified later that she had caught him watching “MILF” porn and believed he had relapsed despite passing a drug test. Bynes enrolled in cosmetology school in October of last year with the intention of becoming a manicurist. It is unclear whether she will continue pursuing this career amid her mental health struggles. Her representative did not respond to requests for comment.
