Destiny 2 Players Aren’t Happy With the Latest Grandmaster Nightfall

This week’s Nightfall activity in Destiny 2 returns players to a Battlegrounds mission on the moon, but many players are struggling with it, especially those attempting Grandmaster runs. Grandmaster Nightfalls have always been one of the toughest challenges in Destiny 2, and while these endgame activities are meant to be difficult, fans are finding the mechanics adapted from Battlegrounds activities to be not only frustrating but also unfair.

The new story trailer for Shin Megami Tensei 5 delves into the factions and gameplay of the post-apocalyptic Tokyo, shedding more light on the role of the Nahobino.

For most of Destiny 2’s lifespan, Nightfall strikes have been exactly that: strikes. While Nightfall activities offer a greater challenge and better loot, they have typically been harder versions of strikes designed for focused three-player PvE missions, accommodating various difficulty levels. On the other hand, Battlegrounds activities in Destiny 2 follow a different formula. They are seasonal activities, usually designed for three players, with generous respawns and a chaotic environment filled with numerous enemies.

Applying Grandmaster-level difficulty to a Battlegrounds activity with infinitely-spawning enemies results in an experience that replaces challenge with tediousness. It’s no surprise that the Destiny 2 community has voiced their complaints about this week’s Nightfall, which is the Season of the Risen’s PsiOps Battlegrounds mission on the moon. One fan on Reddit, under the name Doomestos1, summarizes the community’s gripes, describing the current Nightfall as a “tedious nightmare” due to the constant adds and the time it takes to progress through each section.

Another major issue with the current Nightfall is the boss itself, along with Savathun’s projections. The boss’s Arc lightning attack can instantly eliminate players even when they are in cover. This is due to a long-standing bug in Destiny 2, where enemy damage output is tied to frame rate, resulting in quick deaths for Guardians in certain situations with higher frame rates.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Bungie has reused a Battlegrounds activity as a Nightfall in Destiny 2. A Battlegrounds mission on Mars received similar criticism from fans earlier this year. Unfortunately, it seems that much of that feedback was not taken into account by the developers, as players are encountering many of the same issues once again with this week’s Nightfall on the moon.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

New Shin Megami Tensei 5 Story Trailer Explores the Factions, and New Gameplay Players got some more insight on the premise of post-apocalyptic Tokyo, and the Nahobino’s role.

For most of Destiny 2‘s long lifespan, Nightfall strikes have been exactly that: strikes. Though Nightfall activities are a step-up in difficulty and offer better loot for players seeking the challenge, they’ve almost always been harder versions of strike activities that were specifically designed to be focused, three-player PvE missions, which also accommodate a range of difficulty levels. While similar in many aspects, Destiny 2‘s Battlegrounds activities generally follow a completely different formula compared to the game’s strikes. While Battlegrounds are usually made for three players as well, they are almost always introduced as seasonal activities, and are typically a lot more generous with respawns while providing a chaotic environment with a high enemy density.

As it turns out, applying Grandmaster-level difficulty to a Battlegrounds activity that involves rooms with infinitely-spawning enemies makes for an experience that replaces any semblance of challenge with tediousness instead. That said, it’s no surprise that the Destiny 2 community has been quite vocal in its complaints regarding this week’s Nightfall, which is the Season of the Risen’s PsiOps Battlegrounds mission on the moon. One fan under the name Doomestos1 on Reddit summarizes many of the community’s gripes in a post on the site, describing the current Nightfall as a “tedious nightmare” due largely to the constant adds and the time it takes to get through each section as a result.

Another big problem with the current Nightfall seems to be the boss itself along with the projections of Savathun, as her Arc lightning attack is fully capable of one-hitting players even when they’re hidden in cover. This is due to an infamous and exceptionally long-time bug in Destiny 2 which causes enemy damage output to be related to frame rate, with higher frame rates resulting in fast or instant deaths for Guardians in some circumstances.

This isn’t even the first time Bungie has reused a Battlegrounds activity as a Nightfall activity in Destiny 2with a certain Battlegrounds mission on Mars garnering a similar if not greater round of criticism from fans when it was live earlier this year. Unfortunately, it appears much of that criticism wasn’t heeded by the developers, as players are finding themselves facing many of the same issues once again with this week’s Nightfall on the moon.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
