Gadar 1 Music Composer Uttam Singh Attacks Gadar 2 Makers For Using His Songs —
Renowned composer Uttam Singh created the mesmerizing music for Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma’s blockbuster film Gadar (2001). The music album became a sensation, with chart-topping tracks like “Main Nikla Gaddi Leke” and “Udd Ja Kale Kawa” that still resonate with audiences today. It is due to the everlasting love for these songs that director Anil Sharma decided to include revamped versions of these classics in Gadar 2 (2023).
For the sequel, Anil Sharma brought onboard talented music director Mithoon to compose the new numbers. However, it seems that he unintentionally neglected to consult with Uttam Singh or inform him about the remixing of his beloved old hits. This gesture has left Singh feeling disheartened, and he candidly expressed his disappointment in an interview with Amar Ujala.
Uttam Singh shared, “I was not approached for Gadar 2, and I am not in the habit of reaching out and asking for work. They have incorporated two of my songs in the film, and I have also heard that they have used my composed background music. It would have been courteous for them to have at least approached me and discussed it before using my songs in the film.”
Uttam Singh composed the music for Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma Gadar (2001), and the music album was a superhit. “Main Nikla Gaddi Leke” and “Udd Ja Kale Kawa” have been chartbusters and continue to get the same love even today. That’s the reason why director Anil Shamra kept the revised versions of those two songs on Gadar 2 (2023).
Anil Sharma brought music director Mithoon to compose the numbers this time. Apparently, he forgot to have a word with Uttam Singh and didn’t even inform him before remixing his old superhit numbers. Singh is extremely disheartened by Anil Sharma’s gesture. He spoke to Amar Ujala to express his unhappiness.
Uttam Singh shared, “They didn’t call me for Gadar 2, and I don’t have the habit of calling and asking for work. They have used two of my songs in the film, and I have also heard that they have used the background music that I composed. They should at least have the etiquette to ask me once and talk to me before using my songs in the film.”
