Another thing that could hinder its launch is GameStop’s stated release date coming true, as October 17th comes just three days before Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder hit the market.
And though the former is hardly geared towards the same target audience, Nintendo’s next 2D Super Mario platformer could very well eat into the sales of Sonic Superstars, especially since that game is also confirmed to feature local co-op multiplayer. Given that state of affairs, an October 17th release date for Sonic Superstars seems somewhat dubious, at best.
