How to Begin The Yiga Clan Exam in TotK
Once inside the small cave that houses the Yiga Blademaster Station, players should make their way down the tunnel to the lone Yiga Clan member waiting in the center.
He will assume that Link has arrived to take the Yiga Clan Exam and will begin to explain the parameters. Only after successfully completing the exam will Link be able to enter the inner sanctum where the shrine is located.
To become a Blademaster, Link must travel to five frog statues within the Gerudo Valley area and make an offering of Mighty Bananas.
The Blademaster will give the player five hands of bananas and mark the locations on the map. There’s no time limit or specific order in which to complete these offerings.
Where to Find the Frog Statues
There are a total of five frog statues that Link will need to visit: three out in the open and two inside caves. Players can use the map above to find the general location of the statues or use exact coordinates given below.
Frog Statue #1 – Koukot Plateau (-2355, -1813, 0092)
The closest frog statue to the Yiga Blademaster Station is located just outside at the coordinates -2355, -1813, 0092.
After exiting the station, players can approach the bridge to their left and spot the statue on a ledge below.
Players will need to select the mighty Bananas from their inventory (being careful not to eat them) and drop them into the offering plate in front of the frog. Doing so will tag the statue with the Yiga Clan mark.
Frog Statue #2 – Gerudo Canyon (-2433, -2034, 0077)
The next frog statue can be found further west in the canyon at the coordinates -2433, -2034, 0077.
Using a flying vehicle or climbing down from the cliff from the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, players should be able to spot the glow of the statue’s candles low on the southern wall of the canyon.
Placing the bananas in front of the statue will once again tag it with the mark of the Yiga Clan.
Frog Statue #3 – Mount Nabooru (-1791, -1955, 0043)
Another frog statue can be found to the east within the Mount Nabooru Cave at the coordinates -1791, -1955, 0043.
While there are two entrances to the cave, the best entrance to use is located around the coordinates -1791, -1955, 0043.
Players will be looking for a small cave on the side of the cliff with a waterfall pouring out of it.
Once inside, players should stop at the first ledge available on their right, or, if entering from the southwest, players will need to aim for the last ledge on the left.
There is a path that leads to a small alcove containing the frog statue.
Offering bananas to the statue will tag the statue and progress the exam.
Frog Statue #4 – Spectacle Rock (-2300, -2425, 0357)
Players can find one of the frog statues on the northern peak of Spectacle Rock at the coordinates -2300, -2425, 0357.
The light of the statue’s candles can easily be seen from above next to a large pond of swampy sludge.
Players should be careful as they approach Spectacle Rock, as the other peak is home to a Flame Gleeok that will not hesitate to attack anything passing through its airspace.
Once again, players can place a hand of bananas in front of the statue to tag it with the mark of the Yiga Clan.
Frog Statue #5 – Gerudo Canyon Mine (-2674, -2496, 0094)
The final frog statue can be found within the Gerudo Canyon Mine at the coordinates -2674, -2496, 0094.
There are once again two entrances to the cave available to players, although the frog statue can be more easily spotted when entering from the south.
The southern entrance to the Gerudo Canyon Mine can be found around the coordinates -2611, -2612, 0111.
Inside, players will find a breakable wall they can destroy with a hammer-like weapon or any bombs they have on hand.
After breaking a box in their path, players will be able to spot the frog statue across the room. However, a Like Like waits just below the ledge, so players should proceed with caution.
If players enter from the northern entrance, they can find the frog statue by climbing up to the ledge on their right as they enter the main room. It is not visible from this level, but players can use the image above to help guide them toward the statue.
A Boss Bokoblin leads a patrol of smaller Bokoblins around the central pillar of the room and will attack if players get too close.
Players can make their final offering to the statue to have their Adventure Log updated with the next step in the side adventure.
How to Complete The Yiga Clan Exam
Once all five offerings have been made successfully, players can return to the Yiga Blademaster Station and speak to the clan member to bring the exam to a close.
As a reward for passing the exam, Link will now be able to enter the inner sanctum of the station through the door on the back wall. He is also allowed to take any supplies he may find in the next room.
Within the inner sanctum, players can find chests containing a ruby and an Eightfold Longblade, one of the Yiga Clan’s signature weapons. The glowing spiral of the Suariwak Shrine can be seen through a hole in the back wall.
Players can climb up the boxes stacked in the back of the room and jump through the hole in the wall to reach the deeper part of the cave holding the shrine.
The shrine contains Rauru’s Blessing and a chest holding a Big Battery. By interacting with the statue at the top of the stairs, players are able to claim their Light of Blessing and complete the shrine.
Before players leave the station, players can find a small hole at the base of the room’s northeastern wall large enough to crawl through.
On the other side, players can find a hidden part of the cave that houses a Bubbulfrog. Defeating the Bubbulfrog with reward Link with one of the game’s many Bubbul Gems.
