Steve Harvey apologizes for ‘negative’ tweet about comedians

Surveys suggest that you’ve been fired? Steve Harvey took to social media to apologize to his fans after an employee posted a tweet from his official Twitter page asking users to name a comedian they find unfunny. In a minute-long video posted on Twitter, Harvey acknowledged that the negative tweet came from one of his employees and took responsibility for it. He questioned why he would engage in such behavior, as his brand is centered around motivation. Harvey emphasized that he would never post anything like that himself. He expressed concern for young comedians who could be negatively affected by such comments and stressed that he values positivity. The tweet, which asked people to name an unfunny comedian, was ultimately deleted after being viewed over a million times. Harvey expressed his frustration and apologized for the incident, stating that he was upset and interrupted his fishing trip to address the matter. He jokingly mentioned that his employee might be seeking new employment. However, it is unclear if the employee was actually terminated. Harvey issued a sincere apology, stating that he was sorry and that it would not happen again. TheFantasyTimes reached out to Harvey’s representatives to inquire about the employee’s status but has not received a response yet. Fans pleaded with Harvey not to fire the employee, suggesting that he hold them accountable and use the incident as a teaching opportunity. They highlighted the importance of extending grace, especially if the employee had not exhibited such behavior before.

Surveys says … you’re fired?

Steve Harvey took to social media to issue an apology to his fans after an employee posted a tweet from the actor’s official Twitter page that asked users to name a comedian they “don’t find funny at all.”

“Somebody that works for me on my Twitter put a statement out that was totally negative,” he began in a minute-long video message posted to Twitter Friday.

“I gotta take responsibility for it ’cause they work for me, but the engagement was talking about, ‘name a comedian you don’t think is funny.’”

He rhetorically asked, “Why would I do something like that? That don’t even make no damn sense.”

The “Family Feud” host, 66, added that he would never tweet anything like that because his “whole brand is to be motivational.”

“You don’t know where these young people at in they career, man,” he added. “They could be coming up or anything. I’m all about positivity. I would’ve never done nothing like that.”

Harvey, who said he stopped his fishing trip to share this PSA, said the Aug. 19 tweet — which has been deleted after being viewed more than one million times — “pissed” him off.

“I’m so pissed off right now, man,” the “Steve” alum continued. “Talking about, ‘I was trying to get some engagement.’ Okay … you trying to get some employment, too. My bad, y’all. Now I gotta come on here and doing a damn selfie.

“So here it is: I’m sorry. My bad, y’all. Won’t happen again, though.”

TheFantasyTimes has reached out to Harvey’s reps to see if he actually terminated the employee but did not immediately hear back.

Though it’s unclear if the “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” author actually let his staffer go, fans pleaded with him to reconsider.

“Don’t fire them Steve, just hold them accountable and let it be a teaching tool. Especially, if they have never done anything like that before,” wrote one user.

“@IAmSteveHarvey, if this is not the usual behavior from that person, allow them some ‘grace’ the same grace you have taught us over the years that God extend to us all,” added another.
