BattleBit Remastered: How To Equip Armor

The survival rate of soldiers in BattleBit Remastered is considerably low. With gunfire coming from all directions, it’s hard to stay alive. However, there are some lesser-known ways to avoid death other than taking cover or hiding behind destroyed structures.

Body armor is available in BattleBit Remastered, but many players are unaware of its existence. In most cases, even light armor can help extend a soldier’s life by a small margin, and with the introduction of heavier suits, it will only get better. Here’s how to equip them.

Every soldier class starts with some form of armor by default. However, players can customize their armor by clicking on the “Character” button located on the bottom-left side of the spawn screen, below the “Loadout” button where players can change their weapons.

The Character screen displays all the possible armor options available for a particular class. Choosing a different vest will affect a player’s sturdiness and speed on the battlefield. Heavier armor provides more protection but reduces mobility, while the opposite is true for lighter armor.

Armor can typically protect players from one or two additional body shots, but this depends on the enemy’s weapon and the distance between the players. Heavy armor is best suited for players who prefer head-on confrontations, while light or no armor is better suited for flankers. Armor weight also determines how many magazines a player can carry into a fight.

Helmets play a crucial role in the game. Wearing a helmet can help players survive more hits, but it won’t protect them from well-placed sniper shots. However, the Support class’ Exo helmets can block high-caliber headshots from any distance, keeping them safe while they lay down suppressive fire from static positions.

Character customization screen in BattleBit Remastered

Almost every soldier class starts with some sort of armor by default. However, this can be changed by clicking on the “Character” button on the bottom-left side of the spawn screen, right below the “Loadout” button where players can change their guns.

The Character screen isn’t just for cosmetics—it also shows all the possible armor types a certain class can wear. Changing which vest to wear will affect how sturdy a player is as well as how quickly they can move around the battlefield. Heavier armor provides more protection, but it hampers mobility significantly. The opposite is true for light armor.

Armor will usually protect players against one or two additional body shots, though this depends on the weapon the enemy is using and how far away they are. Heavy armor is best for players who prefer straight-up brawls in the frontlines while light or no armor is better suited for flankers. Armor weight also dictates how many magazines players bring to the fight.

Helmet choice matters in this game. Players may survive more hits if they wear a helmet, though this usually won’t save them from a well-placed sniper shot. However, the Support class’ Exo helmets will block high-caliber headshots from any range, keeping them safe while they lay down suppressive fire from static positions.

The Character screen also contains options for Backpack and Belt slots, which dictate the number of secondary magazines and gadgets players can carry. Heavy backpacks are better suited for Engineers since those let them carry more rockets. They can also be good for Medics since they grant extra medkits.

Different armor variations in the same weight class share the same stats, and the majority of the items in the Character screen are purely cosmetic. Any bonuses provided by a customization item will be shown on the screen when selected.

BattleBit Remastered is available now in early access for PC.
