‘Bachelor’ star Matt James’ mom in talks to appear on spinoff for seniors
Matt James, the star of “The Bachelor,” may have inspired his mother Patty James to follow in his footsteps on her quest for love. According to an insider from the show, Patty is in talks with producers to participate in “The Golden Bachelor,” a new dating competition for individuals over 60 years old that will air later this year on ABC.
Matt made history when he became the first Black “Bachelor” on the show’s 25th season in 2021. During the season, Patty became a fan favorite after appearing at the beginning and finale of the show. She expressed her doubts about her son’s engagement to any of the women, and ultimately, Matt ended up dumping Rachael Kirkconnell after past racist behavior surfaced.
However, Patty may have better luck with “The Golden Bachelor,” ABC’s latest franchise. The unscripted series will give one “hopeless romantic” a chance to find love, and the women who arrive at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss, and laughter. The show’s synopsis explains that they are all hoping to find a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities. In the end, will the man turn the page to start a new chapter with the woman of his dreams?
ABC has not yet announced the identity of the “Golden Bachelor” or the contestants who will compete for his love. The network describes the series as “a whole new kind of love story – one for the golden years.” A representative for the show declined to comment on Patty’s potential participation.
